What is Grounding and Why You Should Try It?

I personally never try to dive too deep into the physiological trends like crystals, zodiac signs, whether your moon is rising, or if Mercury is in retrograde, even though I think it’s very entertaining and fun to explore!

But, when I go for a walk in the grass with nothing on my feet and my toes are able to stretch and reach and grip the earth beneath me, a sense of relief washes over me. The buzzing in my head about deadlines, bills, phone calls, or to-do lists just disappears. I feel at peace. I feel in touch with myself, my body, and the moment. I feel like nothing is more important than that very second.

Grounding, also known as earthing, is a technique that says by placing your bare feet on the raw earth you are able to reconnect, release stress and anxiety, and recenter yourself. There are also reports that it can reduce fatigue, chronic pain, sleep disorders, and blood pressure.

Not in the mood to wander around outside in your bare feet? Other forms of grounding include lying on the ground or submerging yourself in water. Coming from someone who grew up on an island, I can say I have definitely felt similar effects of grounding after swimming in the ocean.

Have you ever experienced grounding? Do you think you will try it? Get outside with those bare feet and let me know if you felt a difference!
