The only kind of debate I’m interested in is the one between coffee and tea. In one corner, we have the sweet black nectar of the coffee bean gods. In the other, we have the spiritual essence of tea leaves.
There are pro’s and con’s for both tea and coffee, and in a lot of ways they are similar.
You can drink them either hot or iced.
You can drink them either plain or with a little milk and sugar.
There is a wide variety of flavors to choose from.
You have to wait for either a brew or steep time.
They both provide you with a little extra boost to your day.
I’ve always loved coffee, but when I was young I would have to drink it with two pumps of vanilla and too much milk. Now, I love my coffee hot and black with just a dash of oak milk. Oh, so perfect. Over those years where my preferences changed, did my taste buds evolve to love the earthy flavor of coffee or did I just grow too lazy to head to Starbucks every morning for my daily cup of joe? Only the coffee gods know.
I’m the type of person that needs to drink my coffee with food. Anyone else get shaky hands when they drink coffee on an empty stomach? My handwriting becomes almost unreadable.
This is where tea came into my life. When I’m needing a pick-me-up and it’s 3 in the afternoon, coffee isn’t an option unless I’m okay with not falling asleep until 4am. A gentle cup of steaming tea is the perfect way to keep me alert after lunch.
When I first started drinking tea I couldn’t believe the different types! From Earl Grey and English Breakfast, Green and Oolong, to Chai, Matcha, Passion, and Herbal, the variety of teas you can pick from had me giddy with excitement! It was almost like being in the drive-thru at Starbucks and looking at all the latte options you can order.
